I have probably encountered all of these issues over the years, but this trip I have been very open minded and haven't really had any trouble with them. I've traveled a lot and lived abroad before, been to Spain before and knew what I was getting into. My biggest problem has been dealing with my American companions and their inability or aversion to accept the rhythm of life and what goes with it. Maybe I'm selfish, but in the states I sit at a table for as long as I want. I mean, I'm paying for it right? Obviously after two months my Spanish has gotten better, so definitely things like going out, talking to strangers and my host family have gotten better, but I can't honestly say it was any more different in the first week. I love Spain, the pace, the people, the taboo's and everything! I prefer it to the regimented life style in the United States.
