Conduct clinical
interviews with patients and caregivers in
order to ascertain level of functioning, appearance of psychiatric
symptomatology, and presence of depression in patients diagnosed with
probable
Alzheimer's Disease. Other duties include taking patient vital signs,
dispensing of medication from the pharmacy, maintaining case-report
forms
(CRFs), administering psychometric tests, and performing statistical
data
analysis with SAS and SPSSX data packages. Attendance at weekly

rounds: Behavioral Neurology; Rotman Research; and Psychiatry, and in
addition,

Examine archival psychometric
data of the study population, test "normal" subjects, and design a
database. Involved in gathering this data and initial planning of
research.

Observe and interview
elementary school children in the classroom and on the playground, in
an
attempt to capture the cause of provocation for particular emotions
expressed
by children. As primary investigator, my pilot observations became the
framework for the Emotion Diary and I trained others on the use of the
Diary.

Involvement in both research
and clinical activities on the Mood Disorders Unit. Primary
responsibility was
as an investigator on a clinical drug trial of Fluoxetine in the
treatment of
depression. Attend and participate in
multidisciplinary team meetings, liason with drug companies, collect
research
data (chart reviews and direct patient contact), maintain clinical and
research
databases (CRFs), developand utilize a specialized clinician rating
scale to
monitor patient progress with staff psychologist, perform statistical
analyses
of data with SPSS/PC+ program, and attend various therapy groups.
Description

Responsibilities include
helping the professor devise memory tests and equipment, conducting the
experiments, and recording the data in a database. Different aspects of
memory
were investigated (e.g., incidental memory, rote recall, free and
cued-recall,
memory for stories).
