In order to complete the chemistry program in a four-year period, students must average 48 credit hours of course work per year. It is important that all chemistry majors begin working closely with an advisor during the first year. Students should file their degree program with the registrar's office by the end of the second year.

To develop the basic skills necessary for success in upper division coursework, students should complete writing, speech and math requirements as early as possible. Students who start in Mth 111 or Mth 112 should enroll in those courses during the first two terms so that they can complete the required calculus courses during the second year.

The chemistry course sequence for all students is identical for the first two years. The third and fourth year sequence will vary depending on whether the student begins the program during an even numbered academic year (e.g. 2000) or an odd numbered academic year (e.g. 2001).
