We offer some graduate level courses, all aimed at preparing secondary level educators completing masters degrees.

All are taught with 400-level courses, with graduate students completing research projects in addition to regular coursework.

Dr. Guralnick

Basic principles of inheritance, including Mendelian patterns of inheritance, molecular genetics, chromosomal aberrations, sex determination, gene mapping, genetic engineering, population genetics as it relates to humans. The lab illustrates topics included in the lecture.  Pre-requisites:  Bi101-3 or 211-3 introductory series.

Plant Ecology

Dr. Guralnick

Fundamentals of plant ecology, population dynamics, seed and pollination ecology, mutualism, competition, predation, colonization and extinction, breeding sytems, ecological genetics and physiological ecology. Lab teaches techniques to study plants and illustrate lecture materials. Pre-requisite:  Any botany or ecology course, or consent of the instructor.  May substitute for Ecology (Bi357) core requirement.
