Gianna Martella (PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison) is a specialist in the narrative, film, and cultures of Spain. Her research and publications focus on issues of migration and race in contemporary Spanish culture, and she is currently working on a book project entitled: Desire and Danger: Mixed Couples in Contemporary Spain. She has worked as a medical interpreter, and also attended the Wisconsin Court Interpreter Orientation and Training. In addition, Dr. Connolly enjoys speaking Portuguese and reading Luso-Brazilian literature. A native of Wisconsin, she has lived and studied in Spain, Colombia, and Brazil.
