About the Program

alhambrapilarThe Spanish degree programs at Western Oregon University are designed to give the student a broad background in Hispanic culture and literature, as well as proficiency in the language. We offer classes focusing on the culture of Spain, Mexico, and Latin America and Hispanic Literature from the Middle Ages to the present day. We encourage our students to supplement formal course work by studying abroad in one of our summer, semester, or year long programs in Ecuador, Mexico or Spain. The program also provides opportunities to interact with the local Hispanic community through volunteer work, cultural activities, internships, and practicums.
