Modern Language Specialization
(24 credits) In the same language

 

Study of a second modern world language through the third year of university level instruction or equivalent. First year courses may not be counted toward the major. Students who begin their college language study above the first term of the second year must complete the language requirement with other courses in that language and/or relevant study-abroad credits, or courses in a third language.

 

WOU requires a minimum grade point average of 2.50 in the International Studies major and a minimum GPA of 2.00 in all university work.

 

International Experience
The major requires at least 8 weeks of international experience consisting of study abroad, an international internship, and/or field research abroad, selected in consultation with and approved by the student’s advisor.

 

International Studies minor
(27 credits)
Choose 12 credits from the International Studies Core
Choose 15 additional upper-division credits from the International Studies Regional and Topical Content areas.
The major and minor may include additional courses (subject to pre-approval of the advisor) that focus on internationally related topics, and/or substantially and explicitly address international issues.
