Boethius: Consolation of Philosophy -- This text was very influential in the Middle Ages; this site directs you to the text as well as gives information about it and Boethius
The Four Humours -- Some general information useful for reading medieval and renaissance literature, primarily the four humours (medical theory) and allegorical interpretation
Courtly Love (general note). -- What it says; the short article sums up the issues and "rules"
The Enduring Popularity of Courtly Love -- This article provides background and discussion, occasionally going beyond the Middle Ages
**The Camelot Project -- Focuses on Arthurian literature and the legends surrounding King Arthur's court
TRISTAN and ISOLT: TEXTS, IMAGES, BASIC INFORMATION -- Camelot project site which gives general background on the Tristan story, more than just Gottfried
**Anthology of Middle English Literature (1350-1485) -- Includes anonymous as well as known authors, several genres (including lyric)
The English Mystery Plays -- Article gives background on medieval drama in general as well as the cycle plays
**The Geoffrey Chaucer Website Homepage -- A Harvard site which collects a variety of information and links on Chaucer
Canterbury Tour - Introduction -- a slide-show tour of Canterbury, the goal of Chaucer's pilgrims
Christine de Pizan -- A short article about Christine and her writing
CHRISTINE DE PISAN OFFERS -- Manuscript illustration from the early 15th century; maybe while Christine was still alive?
Encarta® Online Home -- Racine entry in this encyclopedia
KTEH's Ode to Phaedra Mythological Background -- Site for another work, but it does give the Phaedra background relevant for Racine's play, too

home PAGE -- Another fun site, for a Renaissance magazine aimed at a popular, not scholarly, audience; it includes recommended reading on various topics and reviews of music
MLA Style -- Covers electronic sources only; see MLA 4th edition printed guide for complete style models
Modern Language Association Style Guide -- More complete than the one above, this gives models for most of the types of entries you'll need, but you'll still need to consult the printed edition for some entries
