The
Spring quarter of Honors literature focuses on texts from the late Enlightenment
through the mid-20th century. This period is home to a plethora of "isms" --
Romanticism, Realism, Naturalism, Expressionism, Communism, Feminism, Colonialism
(just to name a few!!). While we can only touch on a select few of these as
we whiz through the past 200 years, you will find yourself on more familiar
terrain this term. I want to encourage you to continue discovering connections
between literature and "the world," capitalizing now on your greater familiarity
with the styles and issues. Assignments will be building on past terms, as well
as opening a few new doors.
