Class Log Assignments will be 30% of grade.

Papers. Two assignments, one an article summary/reaction (15%) and the other a formal essay (30%).

Exams. One exam, a final (15%), with a take-home essay and short in-class "recall" exam. The take-home essay will focus on the Celtic and "earthly" texts from the second half of the term.

Class participation. This class won’t work unless each of you is ready most-if-not-all the time to discuss the readings. Participation does not mean simply attending the class meetings. It means talking—and listening—sharing ideas, asking questions: being involved in a meaningful, prepared way. You will often work in small groups, with each group producing something to hand in. Inclass work/participation cannot be made up; totals will be graded on a sliding scale at the end of the term (10% of the course grade).
