Re-writes of term papers are invited, especially when there is a serious
attempt to improve the substance of the paper.
For the first and second sets of papers, re-writes are due not later than
one week after you have received the paper back from me with my comments.
(If you think you will need more time for a re-write, hand the original
paper in earlier than the due date.) To be eligible for a re-write, a paper
in the final set of papers must be turned in by Monday, Mar 10. I will
attempt to grade and return it to you by Wednesday, Mar 12. Your re-write
will be due the following Monday, Mar 17 at Noon.
The re-written paper must have the original paper attached.
The re-written paper should attempt to incorporate the suggested changes
and corrections called for in my comments on the original. These may include
changes in form as well as content. You are particularly encouraged
to tackle suggested changes in the content or substance of the paper and
not merely the minor errors of form. If you have difficulty deciphering
my handwritten comments, please come in and have me explain them verbally.
Do so as well if you are in doubt as to how to improve the paper.
If you re-write, the original paper will be viewed as a draft of your final
paper, so that your term paper grade will be based on an evaluation of
the final, re-written paper.
