The Three Bodies of Buddha (II) (Trikaya in Mahayana)
It was held that this (1) Dharmakaya was then manifest or disclosed in different ways:
(3) In the historical person of Siddartha Gautama (an expression of the Nirmanakaya, an 'appearance body' of the Buddha), one of many, but also
(2) In a transcendent divine way (Sambhoga-kaya, 'bliss body' of the Buddha), again one of many, accessible to those with special insight.
These three constitute what Mahayana Buddhism calls the three bodies (Trikaya) of the Buddha.
