Graduates
of Western's Theatre/Dance program
have acted in and designed for
such theatres as the Oregon Shakespeare
Festival, the Colorado Shakespeare
Festival, the Houston Alley Theatre,
the South Coast Repertory Theatre,
the Santa Fe Opera, the La Jolla
Playhouse, and Seattle's ACT.
In 1989, Rex Rabold, a long-time
Oregon actor and Western graduate,
was awarded Western's Distinguished
Alumnus Award. David Kay Mickelsen,
a Western graduate and professional
costumer designs in major regional
and Off Broadway theatres. Recently
he completed costume designs for
the premiere of The Grinch Who
Stole Christmas at the Minneapolis
Children's Theatre. Several graduates
contribute their talents to play writing,
directing, choreographing, and
designing for productions in and
around the state. Other Western
theatre and dance graduates have
gone on to careers in television,
film, arts administration, and
teaching in public schools, colleges,
and universities.

Steve Blanchette graduated in 2003 with a B. S. in Technical Theatre. Steve worked as the Shop Forman for WOU's scene shop for the first 6 months after graduation.In 2004 he moved on to work at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, OR as a scenic carpenter and welder. He became Master Carpenter in 2010 and has been the primary rigger since the end of 2011. In the summer of 2012 he will be the Construction Supervisor for Henry V on the Elizabethan Stage at OSF.

Brent Sullivan graduated in 2003 with a B. S. in Theatre Arts. He worked for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as a scenic carpenter from 2004-2006. Brent and his wife moved to Boston in 2006 where he attended Boston University as a Masters candidate in Lighting Design. He taught as an Instructor there from 2007-2012. In 2008 he started working for Harvard University as production supervisor and resident lighting designer. In 2010 Brent received his MFA in Theatre Lighting Design. Companies he has worked with include: The Huntington Theatre Company, American Repertory Theatre, Tulsa Opera, and Boston Ballet. He worked in the Boston area as an independent lighting designer for Dance, Theatre, Opera, and special events before moving back to Portland in summer of 2012.

McKenna Twedt graduated in 2010 with a B.F.A. in Acting and a secondary focus in Costume Design. McKenna has moved to the artists community at Mile Post 5 in Portland, Oregon to continue her career as an actor, costume designer, theatre collaborator and community artist. She has had the immense pleasure of working with such companies as defunkt, Post5 Theatre, Public House, Theatre Vertigo, Coho Theatre, Quintessence, Lakewood Theatre Company, Gallery Theatre, Salem Repertory, Pentacle and deManiak Productions. Some of her favorite past projects include Scout/Jean Louise in To Kill a Mockingbird (Public House), Phil's Girl/Catherine/Others in Fire Island (defunkt), Louisa/Mrs. Pegler/Others in Hard Times (deManiak Productions and Coho Theatre), Costume Designer for Hunter Gatherers (Theatre Vertigo), Costume Designer for Mauritius (Salem Repertory) and Columbina in Scroogio's Christmas: a Commedia Dell'arte Holiday (Post5 Theatre).

Evan Christopher graduated from Western in 2011 with a double degree: on in English Literature, the other in Theatre Arts. Since graduating, Evan has been busy pursuing professional development internships in directing (Portland Center Stage, CoHo Theater) and has started a local theatre in his hometown of Keizer, OR (www.khtheatre.org).
