Dee Montgomery-Smith

DEE MONTGOMERY-SMITH began her career as a choreographer in 1976. To her credit are many high school musical productions staged at local schools such as, McNary, South Salem, McKay, North Salem, Sprague, Central, Dayton, Dallas, Silverton and Forest Grove. She has performed at, and choreographed shows for, Pentacle Theatre, Chemeketa Community College in Salem, and Gallery Players in McMinnville. She was a principal dancer with DART Dance Theatre starting at its conception in 1974 with director and choreographer Barbara Brandvig. With DART, she toured California, Washington, and throughout Oregon. She performed at Expo “86” with the Salem Ballet Theatre, at the Canadian World’s Fair. She continues to teach dance at Chemeketa Community College, where she has been on staff since 1982. There, she has taught courses in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Kickboxing, Step Aerobics, Weight Training, and has been director and choreographer of “Dance Works”. She has been teaching Tap and Jazz at Western Oregon University since 2005. Past credits include teaching at Discovery School of Dance and Theatre Arts Inc. in Salem, Classic Tap in Keizer, and Children’s Education Theater. Dee Graduated from Western Oregon University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education with a dance minor.
