New student scholarship auditions (baccalaureate and graduate) will be held on Sunday February 10, 2008 at Smith Recital Hall on the Western Oregon University campus. All application materials must be received by February 4, 2008. Music scholarships for entering music majors are awarded on the basis of a completed application, a successful audition or interview, accumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher from a high school or college, and two letters of recommendation. Arrangements can be made to hear recordings and/or video tapes of applicants who are unable to audition on campus (Graduate students please refer to the audition requirements for the MM degree). Applicants are encouraged to apply for admission to the university prior to the audition since scholarships cannot be awarded to students who have not applied for admission. In addition to music department scholarships, the following named scholarships are available for new music majors entering Western Oregon University:

Awards of $1,000 each are presented to five incoming music majors. The Laurel scholarships are renewable for up to four years as long as students meet the following criteria: 1) remain a music major and 2) maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher during their college career. All instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers are eligible to apply.
Music Festival Scholarships
Multiple, one-time awards of $1,000 each are presented to new students who have participated in one of the high school music festivals hosted by WOU - Choral Festival, Jazz Festival, or Band Festival.
