Faculty Composer Kevin Walczyk's work Celebration Fanfare, commissioned and premiered by the Oregon Symphony in November 2003, was one of 14 works selected (from over 600 submitted) for recording by the Kiev Philharmonic on volume 5 of ERMMedia's Masterworks of the New Era Series. Faculty Composer Kevin Walczyk received an Argosy Foundation Grant to support the creation of his symphony Corps of Discovery, which was commissioned by the Oregon Symphony and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The work will be premiered in St. Louis February 25-27 and in Portland May 14-16.
Western Hemispheres Orchestra director Keller Coker poses with the classic rock band America after performing as a guest artist on their show in Lincoln City on November 12. The band claimed the event as a milestone noting that it was the first time a trombone player had performed with the band.
