The Western Oregon University Music Department offers degrees at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The degree options in music at Western Oregon University provide a foundation in theory, aural skills, solo and ensemble performance, and music history. Students broaden their musical knowledge by pursuing areas of emphasis, including applied performance lessons, conducting, composition, arranging, electronic music, and jazz studies. Those graduating with these degrees find employment in the music industry, music journalism, performance, studio music instruction, church music, the entertainment industry, or community music. It also provides an excellent foundation for further scholarly study in music and 5th year certification programs in music education.
