Western Oregon University and the Department of Psychology support the practice of protecting the rights of research participants. Accordingly, this project has been reviewed and approved by the WOU Institutional Review Board. The information in this consent form is provided so that you can decide whether you wish to participate in this study. It is important that you understand that your participation is considered voluntary. You may elect, either now or at any time during the experiment, to withdrawal your participation, with no penalty or loss of benefits.
This experiment meets the American Psychological Association's standards for "Minimal Risk," and poses no major risks or dangers for you as a participant. The experiment involves looking at some pictures and estimating peoples' age. The study will take less than 30 minutes to complete.
You are assured complete confidentiality, the information you provide will never be associated with your name. During the data collection phase of this study, we will match and distribute the questionnaires to you by a predetermined participant number. All data will be reported in aggregate form only. Upon completion of your participation in this study, you will be provided with a brief explanation of the purpose of this research and the specific hypotheses that are being tested. If you have any questions not addressed by this consent form, please do not hesitate to ask. You may request a copy of this form for your records.
