International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. It is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. Today, more than 100 countries worldwide observe IEW.  – See more here.

To emphasize WOU’s mission statement of providing effective learning opportunities that prepare students for a fulfilling life in a global society as well as supporting an accessible and diverse campus community, WOU will be celebrating International Education Week during the week of November 14-18, 2016.  The week events are available in PDF format here Int’l Ed Week Event Schedule.

International education is not just solely defined by international student and study abroad programming but is an approach to education that intentionally prepares students to be active and engaged participants in an interconnected world. This year’s theme is “Empowering Youth through International Education” and as such, we hope that the entire campus community will participate.
