Death by Design
Date: Thursday, November 13 - Saturday, November 22
Time: 07:00 - 10:30 pm
Location: Rice Auditorium
Cost: General admissions $12, Seniors $10, non WOU students $7, WOU students with ID free. Tickets available two weeks before the performance.
Audience: Public
Description: Director Ted de Chatelet calls Death by Design a comedy with songs and murder. Written by Rob Urbinati, the play is a mystery mash up of Noel Coward and Agatha Christie complete with a collection of unusual characters brought together by chance and all falling under suspicion when one is murdered. Death by Design performs 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22 November at 7:30 p.m. and 16 November at 2:00 p.m.

Exploring Deaf-Hearing Cross Cultural Dynamics
Date: Friday, November 21 - Saturday, November 22
Time: All day
Location: Werner University Center, Columbia
Cost: Students $25, general $35, faculty and staff seeking CEUs $50, professionals seeking CEUs $75. Add a $5 late fee if registering after Nov. 14.
Audience: Public
Description: This is a two day event: Nov. 21 (4 to 8 p.m.) and Nov. 22 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). A 10-hour hands-on workshop co-facilitated by Dr. John Gournaris and Alison Aubrecht on identifying and working through Deaf-Hearing cross-cultural conflicts in the workplace. The workshop is presented in ASL, and interpreters are provided.

Wolves Turkey Chase 5K Run/Walk
Date: Saturday, November 22
Time: 09:00 - 11:00 am
Location: WOU Campus
Cost: $4-$6 Pre-event registration is $4 or three canned food/non-perishable food items; day-of registration is $6 (food donation option not available for day-of registration). Event t-shirts will be available for purchase for $16 but only with pre-registration that is completed and paid for by Tuesday 11/11.

Description: Are you looking for a reason to greet the brisk Saturday morning air while at the same time helping out the local community here at WOU? Well then the WOU Running Club has quite the event for you! Join us as we host the First Annual Wolves Turkey Chase 5K Run/Walk. The entry/registration forms are at the Health and Wellness Center. Check-in begins at 9am on Saturday 11/22 at the WUC Plaza with walkers starting on the course at 9:45am and runners at 10am.

Governor Barbara Roberts
Visits WOU

Time: Noon
Details: Barbara Roberts served as Oregon's governor from 1991 to 1995. She will be on campus Monday Nov. 7 to talk about her life in politics and to launch her new book, Up the Capitol Steps: A Woman's March to the Governorship. The event is free and open to the public and includes a book signing.

Western Oregon University (WOU) is recognized as a fully-accredited higher education institution by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities*. Accreditation is an ongoing seven-year process that is intended to ensure that universities deserve the confidence of the community and students. The Commission reconfirmed WOU's educational quality and effectiveness in 2011, enabling us to continue to receive federal funds to support teaching, research and student financial aid.

 

In April 2013, the Commission will be conducting the 'Year Three' review and evaluation of WOU's Report on Resources and Capacity. This report will describe the ways in which we have put the necessary organizational structures into place to meet our mission and goals as a university. As part of this review, we invite you to share your comments about our qualifications for accreditation. Your letter will be shared with the evaluation committee, the Commission, as well as WOU administrators.
