65th Annual Meeting of the OAS February 24, 2007 at Western Oregon University
The 65th annual meeting of the Oaregon Academy of Science represents a great opportunity for people to try out new presentations in a scientific yet friendly environment, or simply to listen to presentations about cutting-edge research and educational activities.
Have you registered yet for the Oregon Academy of Science’s annual meeting, or encouraged your students and/or colleagues to register? If not, I urge you to do so now.

This years keynote adress is Severe Hypoxia in Oregon's Coastal Ocean: Mechanisms and Impacts By Dr. Jack Barth - Oregon State University, COAS Location Western Oregon University is located conveniently close to I-5, and is easily reached in less than 1 1/2 hours when driving from Portland.
Given the early starting time for most sessions on Saturday morning, those traveling from greater distances may wish to make hotel arrangements. A partial listing of hotels is provided in this Newsletter, including several within easy walking distance of the meeting venue, lower-rate options, and downtown hotels for those desiring the full Wine Country experience.
Registration Pre-registration speeds up the registration process, saves you money, and helps us greatly with lunch planning. If you have not yet registered, please do so immediately. A registration form is included in the newsletter or as a single document. Send the completed form with your payment to Liz Atkinson (address at the bottom of the registration form).
Late registration fees commence on February 6. The late registration fee is only $2, so if you miss the date, please do still plan to join us at the annual meeting.
Lunch is included in your meeting registration fee, but can only be guaranteed if you pre-register for the meeting.
All presenters must be members of the Oregon Academy of Science.

News from the Junior Academy of Science The Oregon Junior Academy of Science will be held at Western Oregon University on Friday, February 23, 2007. High school students doing research in the sciences, mathematics and psychology are invited to participate. Group research projects are accepted. Outstanding OJAS presenters are eligible to present again to compete for scholarships at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium on Saturday, February 24, 2007, also at Western Oregon University.
