Dr. Stephen Taylor holds a Ph.D. in Geology from West Virginia University with expertise in fluvial geomorphology, environmental geology, and geographic information systems (GIS). In addition to over 16 years of teaching and research experience at Western Oregon University, Dr. Taylor has leadership experience including six years of service as board member and past chair of the Oregon State Board of Geologist Examiners and a past chair of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Dr. Taylor’s present research initiatives span a diverse array of topics including watershed analysis, cinder cone volcanism at Newberry Volcano, rapid bio-assessment of salmonid in Coast Range watersheds, and fingerprint pattern characterization. In addition to his technical background with novel GIS applications, Dr. Taylor is a highly experienced educator.
