A guide for teacher preparation candidates and faculty

The purpose of this two-CD set is to provide teacher education candidates and faculty an overview of the role teacher work samples play in licensing Oregon teachers. Two tracks exist in this CD.  One is for faculty who are learning about teacher work samples.  The second track is for candidates as they begin developing a conceptual structure to think about teacher work samples.  Users may find that reviewing both tracks is beneficial.
This CD provides definitions of teacher work sampling as well as interviews with faculty, candidates, and representatives from Oregon's teacher licensing commission (TSPC).
The accompanying CD provides examples of teacher work samples developed by recent candidates in Oregon teacher preparation programs.  Materials in the second CD include:
  • a complete teacher work sample (with a few exemplary

  • components)
  • work sample components we selected because they were deemed

  • skillful and/or interesting approaches.

These CDs were developed with support from Western Oregon University Title II funds and with cooperation from Concordia University, Oregon State University, Willamette University, and Oregon's Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.
