Complete the steps to present all the required documents and forms to the College of Education. Screening and admission interviews are then arranged as a cooperative effort between faculty in the College of Education and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Your careful planning is necessary to prepare for, schedule, and participate in an interview.

 

Prospective candidate checklist:

  • Post-baccalaureate: Meet with Bill Hamlin to start the transcript evaluation process.
  • Complete prescribed coursework, earning a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or better
  • Pass a basic skills examination
  • Show documentation of two experiences working with youths. At least one experience must be in an instructional setting at appropriate grade level. Both letters should be on official letterhead, and one should be confidential.
  • Review the Getting Ready to Apply checklist.

Note: Interviews occur two terms before the anticipated term of entry to the teacher education curriculum. The application packet contains a full list of materials necessary for participation.

If you neet all of the above requirements and feel that you are ready to apply to the Professional Education Program, please proceed with the entry process (see next section). Reminder: Applications are accepted in the Fall if you plan to start the program Spring term. Applications are accepted during Winter term if you plan to start the program Fall term.

Entry requirements

1. Attend an orientation: Contact Kris Dalton for the schedule.

2. Apply: Print the Education Licensure Program Application Packet or print the following pages and follow all instructions. (Adobe Reader is required .)
