Lending Library Catalog

The Western Region Interpreter Education Center (IEC) Lending Library is housed at Western Oregon University and is open to interpreters who reside in the WRIEC region. The Lending Library includes more than 400 videotapes, CD-ROMs, DVDs, and books which can be used for skills development practice or to learn more about Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), and linguistics.

To request materials, print off the Request for Lending Library Materials form and return it with the processing fee to the address indicated on the form. Requests are processed on a weekly basis.

The following guidelines have been developed to make the Lending Library as accessible as possible to the greatest numbers of interpreters:

• Requests for materials will be filled on a first come, first serve basis

• Two (2) individual items (videotapes, books, CD-Roms, DVDs) or one (1) telecourse may be borrowed at a time, unless otherwise noted in the catalogue
• Materials will be loaned for up to thirty (30) days
• All materials are to be returned by the date indicated on the confirmation letter that accompanies the materials(s). A deadline extension must be requested prior to the original due date of the materials. An extension of seven (7) days may be granted unless another request for the same materials is pending
• All materials are to be returned to the WRIEC; do NOT pass them on to others. This will help with tracking and will allow us to honor requests for materials in the order they are received
• Materials not returned on time will be subject to a $25 overdue charge
• Materials are to be insured for $50 when returned by mail
• Requests for materials will be accepted via US Mail only and must be accompanied with the processing fee
• If materials are lost or damaged, the full purchase price for a replacement item (equal in value) will be charged. If the lost materials are no longer available, the WRIEC will specify an alternate item, on the same topic, as a replacement.

Processing fee:The processing fee is $5.00 per request to cover postage and handling. Make check or money order payable to WOU-RRCD. We are unable to accept cash, purchase orders, credit cards or debit cards.

New materials:If there are any materials you would like to see added to the Lending Library, please let us know. We would appreciate as much information about the materials as possible, including title, publisher, cost, etc. We will purchase new materials as funding permits.
