Rehabilitation Counselor Education
Goals of the program To prepare graduate-level rehabilitation counselors who will facilitate employment, independent living, community integration and personal adjustment for individuals who are deaf and/or who have disabilities.
To educate students on deafness and disability related law, rehabilitation related community issues, and effective techniques in advocating for appropriate services with an emphasis on promoting leadership and self advocacy skills in individuals who are deaf and/or who have disabilities.
To engage faculty and students in research and community activities that will contribute to increased understanding and ongoing improvement in the field of rehabilitation.
To meet the needs of the rehabilitation community by providing flexibility in delivering program training that includes pre-service deafness and pre-service general rehabilitation counseling options.
To offer an environment that provides a diverse student and faculty population and promotes understanding of disability and cultural diversity.
