Position Openings for 2004/05
The Lane Regional Program, located in beautiful Lane County Oregon,
(Eugene and vicinity) has an Educational Interpreter position opening
for
2004/05.
Our positions are typically:
6.5 - 7 hours a day
193 days per year (student attendance days plus inservice days).
Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage.
Our program serves Kindergarten - 21 year old students who are Deaf
or hard
of hearing who are mainstreamed throughout Lane County. We have

Educational Interpreters working with 17 students.
The Lane Regional Program provides a supportive environment where:
. Interpreter inservices are provided at least twice a year.
. Interpreters meet once a month for ongoing inservice and support.
. Scheduling provides a variety of assignments for challenging and
rewarding
work.
The Educational Interpreter is responsible for the deaf and hard
of hearing
students' (K-12) accessibility to education. Perform simultaneous
interpretation of spoken language and sign language for deaf and
hard of
hearing students within and outside the classroom environment.
Minimum qualifications summary
Graduation from an accredited Interpreter Education Program or equivalent
combination of knowledge, experience and skills in interpreting.
Previous
experience interpreting in an educational setting preferred.

The Educational Interpreter is responsible for the Deaf and hard of hearing students’ accessibility to education. The Interpreter will provide simultaneous interpretation of spoken language and sign language for students within and outside the classroom environment.
Qualifications include: 1) graduation from an accredited Interpreter Education Program or equivalent combination of knowledge, experience and skills in interpreting, 2) satisfactory score on the Oregon Skills Assessment, 3) ability to work as part of the educational team and 4) experience in the educational setting (preferred).
