Amanda Smith - Bio

Amanda R. Smith currently calls Keizer, Oregon “home” along with her husband of 10 years and two boys (ages 6 and 7). Amanda has been interpreting since 1997 and nationally certified since 2002. She has held Kansas state certification at the Master level in both interpreting and transliterating since 1998. Currently, she is a full-time instructor at Western Oregon University in the American Sign Language/English Interpreting Program. Over the years, she has specialized in post-secondary interpreting (post-graduate coursework) and in 2004 began pursuing an additional specialization in legal interpreting. This new venture is both challenging and stimulating work. Through the course of her career Amanda has worn multiple hats, in addition to interpreter, that of mentor, ITP faculty member, RSA project coordinator, and trainer. From all angles, this work is fascinating and fulfilling.
