Born, raised and educated in North Dakota, Denvy worked as mathematician for the federal government in Alaska for a decade. Denvy and his wife Gail, a nurse, then lived in the shadow of Denali, the Great One, in rural Alaska, making wooden toys and focusing on raising their family and volunteering in the community. In different years both Denvy and Gail were selected volunteer of the year for the state of Alaska. After their three children moved on into their own lives, Denvy served as the first director of student activities at his Alma Mater in North Dakota. To experience more of life Denvy and Gail moved to Oregon where they live on a small farm in the coastal range foothills and teach at area colleges.
