Week 2
Read:

On the listserv, let's discuss the following questions:
We can start with Ferrell's first question: "What does an educational interpreter do?"

Then, she asks: "How do we do it and do we do it well?"

What is interpreting by objective or "IBO?"

How many of you have access to the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)? And, if you do, with whom are you able to discuss the objectives? Are you able to incorporate the objectives into your interpretation? How?

Are you familiar with Piaget's stages of cognitive development? (Check out web sites on Piaget's cognitive development theory.) Do you have training in child development or education?

What do you have in your "bag of tricks?"

What strategies can you try if you are lacking in background experience?

What strategies can you try if you are having a problem within the team of interpreter and teacher?
