Tom Kelly - Bio

I have been a faculty member in the Division of Health and Physical Education at WOU since 1989. My interests lie in the fields of exercise physiology, mountaineering, and backpacking (the latter two would occupy all of my time if I could figure out a way to make it happen).

In addition to teaching classes I served as the MenŐs Basketball Coach for 13 years acquiring more wins than any other coach in school history. I coached 9 all-Americans during that period and over 20 of my former players are toiling in the coaching ranks. In 2002 I decided to pursue a doctorate in Exercise Physiology and focus on teaching and research in that field. Prior to coming to WOU, I was an assistant basketball coach at Brigham Young University, Mesa State College in my hometown of Grand Junction, Colorado, and a high school coach and teacher at Montezuma-Cortez High School in Cortez, CO. My wife Tracy and I have three sons. My other passion is cooking and eating all sorts of Thai food (two years in Thailand develops an appetite).
