Re-accreditation officially secured
The College of Education hosted a joint site visit by 10 examiners from both
NCATE and the Oregon TSPC Oct. 13-17, 2007. Read the media release announcing re-accreditation.
Message sent May 15, 2008, to all WOU faculty and staff:
Hello, university community: The Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission recently voted to grant unconditional approval to WOU's teacher preparation programs until June 2015 and concurred that the joint site visit review team that visited in October found that we met all standards. In addition, last month we received official word that we had met all standards through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Many, many thanks to all who worked hard to make this re-accreditation achievement possible. Hilda Rosselli, Dean, College of Education

faculty and staff:
Hello: It's official! The WOU College of Education has
been re-accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE). Here is an excerpt of a 4/19/08 e-mail:
<< Dear Hilda:
NCATE’s Unit Accreditation Board met earlier
this week to determine the accreditation status of 46 institutions. We
are pleased to inform you that accreditation has been continued for the
professional education unit at Western Oregon University... Congratulations! Sincerely
yours, Donna M. Gollnick, Senior Vice President, NCATE >>
While the preliminary report
from the team of examiners was quite favorable, the NCATE Unit Accreditation
Board met only last week to vote. Many of you helped significantly
in the effort to once again secure accreditation and we sincerely
thank you. The next on-site review will be in (2014). WOU's teacher preparation
programs have earned continuous NCATE accreditation since 1954. Thank
you again. Hilda Rosselli, Dean, College of Education |
