ACCESSIBILITY AT WESTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY’S COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
Western Oregon University will hosts its 160th commencement ceremony in celebration of our students in the company of their family and friends on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:30 am at the McArthur Stadium.
Students who are eligible to graduate in the upcoming ceremony, should complete the Commencement & Diploma Information form in their student portal. There is a section on the form, for students with disabilities who may require accommodation to participate in the ceremony, to fill out.
Accessible parking is located behind McArthur Stadium at Lot “G”. The entrance is on the west side of the stadium, off Stadium Drive. The accessible seating area is on the south side of the Stadium. A map of the stadium is shown below. If you are dropping off a guest who uses wheelchair, please park in general parking after you finish dropping off the guest.
We do not accept reservations for seating. Accessible seating for visitors, family, and friends at the Commencement Ceremony will be located toward the South side of the stadium closest to Jackson Street and also in-door at the New Physical Education (NPE) building across from the stadium. The ceremony will be live-streamed with captions on a large screen in the building as well as in Werner University Center (WUC) in the Willamette room on the 2nd floor. Seating is available for the individual who needs it and one additional person with them. If you do not need accessible seating, please sit in the general seating area. There is also a general seating area in-door at the New Physical Education (NPE) building for anyone.
ODS staff members will also be available at the ceremony to answer your questions about accessibility. They are identifiable by their purple, button-down shirt with “Office Of Disability Services, Western Oregon University” written on it.
Listening device and Alternative format
Listening devices will be provided to persons with hearing disabilities upon request. Also, alternative format of the ceremony program is available in:

Persons needing a listening device or the ceremony program in any of the format above, should send their request to the Office of Disability Services (ODS) at 503-838-8250 or email@example.com two weeks in advance.
The ceremony will be interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL) for graduating students, visitors, family and friends. Interpretation for visitors, family, and friends will be located in the South side of the stadium in the accessible seating area.
