Where Professors Love to Teach
At WOU, professors - not graduate students - teach your classes. They learn your name, talk to you, help and mentor you. Undergraduates do research and some are published. And the student-to-faculty ratio is great— 20:1!

College of Education
WOU has a tradition of outstanding teacher education dating back to its founding in 1856. Our College of Education has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education for 50 years and was selected as one of 38 model teacher education programs nationwide by the U.S. Department of Education. We’ve earned a national reputation for our research, on connecting teaching and learning as well as our innovative, proficiency-based teacher preparation programs. Within three divisions, the College of Education offers three bachelor’s degrees and four master’s degrees.

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
All students take our Liberal Arts Core Curriculum, which includes courses in writing, speech, mathematics, laboratory science, creative arts, social science, humanities, health and physical education. This curriculum rounds out your education, develops your interest and helps you select a major.

Students Earn Credit
for Child Care Center Work
Education majors or other students interested in working with young children are invited to apply with the Teaching Research Child Development Center to help in the preschool and toddler classrooms. There is an opportunity to receive credit for the work and this is a great opportunity to attain the experience needed for the WOU education program. Interested students should contact Dawn Norris at 503-838-8769.
