Sexual Harassment: zero tolerance
How Western Oregon University responds to this issue
A critical part of the university’s obligation is to ensure that there
is a safe learning environment with clear policies about sexual
harassment and inappropriate relationships among faculty, staff and
students. Western Oregon University’s commitment to that obligation is
underscored by the significant resources devoted to the goal of
providing a harassment free university. Ongoing efforts include: sexual
harassment training and awareness sessions, panel discussions on
relevant topics, clear policies and procedures, and providing
supportive counseling and advice.
Official WOU policy
As of April 2006, with campus-wide input, the university adopted revised policies and procedures on sexual harassment and consensual relationships. Our policy makes it clear that sexual harassment is not tolerated at Western Oregon University.

Task Force for Consideration of Policies and Practices
Regarding Sexual Harassment and Consensual Relationships
In early 2005, Western Oregon University, together with all of the
institutions in the Oregon University System, began a review of its
policies, procedures, and practices regarding sexual harassment and
consensual relationships. The review was conducted by a special task
force that contained faculty, staff, and student representation. The
report and recommendations of the task force, the university’s action
plan in response to those recommendations, together with relevant
correspondence is contained in the links below.
