| Research:
Dr. Harchanko is a composer of music for both electroacoustic media and acoustic (traditional) ensembles. His dissertation consisted of two parts: a composition for wind ensemble entitled "Horizon" and the related treatise "Creating Narrative in Post-serial Tonality." His research in electroacoustic music has centered around the concepts of spectro-morphology. These ideas were presented at the 2002 Society of Electro-acoustic Music (SEAMUS) National Convention and later published in the Journal SEAMUS (vol.16 no.2) and are pending reprint in the Canadian Journal "eContact!". A multimedia version is available on-line. Demonstration patches in the MAX/MSP and Pd software environment are also available. |
